WESTMINSTER — County residents may be eligible for free help with income tax filings through the AARP's TaxAide Program. Anyone age 60 or older can sign up, no matter the income level. Also eligible are those people younger than 60 who make less than $60,000 a year.

Appointments are required and can be scheduled at any of the county's five senior and community centers.

* Westminster Senior and Community Center, 125 Stoner Ave., Westminster (410-386-3850) — Mondays and Wednesdays, Feb. 1-March 31, 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. No appointments President's Day, Feb. 15. Makeup day Tuesday, Feb. 16.

* South Carroll Senior and Community Center, 5928 Mineral Hill Road, Eldersburg (410-386-3700) — Mondays, Feb. 1-April 5, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. No appointments on Feb. 15.

* North Carroll Senior and Community Center, 2328 Hanover Pike, Hampstead (410-386-3900) — Thursdays, Feb. 4-April 8, 9 a.m.-2:15 p.m.

* Mount Airy Senior and Community Center, 703 Ridge Ave., Mount Airy — Mondays and Fridays, Feb. 1-March 29, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. No appointments Feb. 15. Makeup date Feb. 16.

* Taneytown Senior and Community Center, 220 Roberts Mill Road, Taneytown (410-386-2700) — Tuesdays, Feb. 2-March 30, 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Appointments will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis, with attention given to those who are at least 60. Residents should bring last year's tax return; all W-2 forms; 1099 forms; and estimated tax payments; Social Security numbers for all dependents; and the 2009 property tax bill for the primary residence.
