A basketball free throw championship will be held Saturday, Jan. 16, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., in the gym of St. Joseph's Catholic Community, 915 Liberty Road, Eldersburg.

The event is hosted by the Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Knights of Columbus.

Boys and girls ages 10-14 can participate and will compete in their respective age groups. Registration is free the day of the event.

Registration for Freedom girls softball in January

Walk-in signups for the Freedom District Optimist Girls Softball League will be held Saturdays, Jan. 16 and Jan. 23, at Freedom Community Center, Route 32 at the Pizza Hut, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Online registration continues through Jan. 30 at www.eteamz.com/fdosoftball.

The FDO Girls Softball League features programs for slow pitch for pre-kindergarten (5 years old by Sept. 1, 2010); grades one and two; grades three and four; grades five through seven; and grades eight through 12 that includes girls age 18 and still attending high school. There will be a late fee assessed for registrations after Jan. 30.

WAX registration for spring now available online

Registration for Westminster Area Lacrosse's spring season is registering players online. Boys and girls may register in the following age groups:

Pockets, ages 5-6); Tykers, ages 7-8; Lightning, ages 9-10; Midgets, ages 11-12; and Juniors, ages 13-14.
