It will be the battle of the Knights this Friday at 7 p.m. at Century High School, with the winner advancing to the state semifinals.
Middletown (8-3) will come to Century (11-0) in the Class 2A West Region Final.
Century kept rolling last Friday, beating rival Liberty 35-6 in the school's first-ever playoff game.
The only team in county history to win its first 11 games, Century puts its perfect record on the line against a Middletown Knights' program that is used to playoff competition.
Middletown, which defeated Clarksburg 21-7 in its first-round playoff game, is making its ninth postseason appearance in 13 years.
Century beat Liberty for the second consecutive week to advance to the regional final. The Knights bolted to a 21-0 half-time lead and rolled easily to their 11th straight win.
Century, whose primary offensive producers are senior fullback Cory Anderlik and senior receiver Luke Wright, has added another effective weapon in its last two victories. In the two games against Liberty, junior tight end Zack Zile caught seven passes for 182 yards and a touchdown.
The steady hand of junior quarterback Josh Bordner steadies the Century offense, which has averaged 32.4 points per game.
The Knights defeated Middletown 21-7 in the fourth game of the regular season, and are bidding to become the fourth Carroll County team in the last four years to reach the state semifinals.
A victory over Middletown would give Century the Class 2A West Region title and leave the Knights just two wins away from a state championship.
