The Raiders A United team continued its undefeated season with a win over the West Carroll Veterans 39-0, on Oct. 25.
The Raiders' first drive featured a 25-yard pass from Matt Caillouet to Alex Bontzos. Matt Pluta ran for the first touchdown and Sean Twigg ran in the extra point.
On defense, Matt Hunter recorded a tackle for a 12 yard loss, and Justin Murphy and John Bender blocked the Vets punt to give the Raiders fantastic field position. Pluta broke four tackles for a 13-yard run, and Twigg scored the touchdown.
Oscar Callejas' kick pinned the Vets in their own territory, and Callejas recovered a Vets' fumble for a touchdown. Later, Caillouet passed to Spenser Ricks for a touchdown and Logan Brennan added an extra point. Zach Schmidt handled the ball well as center.
Zach Custred opened the second half with a crushing hit, and Caillouet pulled down an interception and ran in for another touchdown to make it 31-0. Later Joe Adams had a long run and Adams followed up by running it in for another score, with Mark Wells adding the extra point.
The Raiders A United have secured their first place standing and have a bye for the first round of playoffs.
Raiders D-1 National (Tucker)
The Raiders fell to the Warhawks, 14-8, in overtime. The matchup started off with both teams scoring touchdowns and extra points, and the score remained at 8-8 until overtime.
The Raiders defense was led by Anthony Perrone with two interceptions and good tackling by Bryce Batson, Cameron Collins, Scott Murri, Jack Myers, Tommy Parris, Alex Stefanick, Nate Tucker and Zach Tucker.
On offense, Perrone, Collins and N. Tucker all gained yardage. The lone touchdown was made by Collins with Stefanick adding the extra point.
Raiders Federal B Silver
Rain couldn't stop the Raiders in a win over West Carroll, 33-0. Justin Keller, Carter Robins, Levi Robey, Wesley Prettyman and Robert Lofink scored touchdowns, while Mitchell Spear, Jonathan Pierce and Robey added extra points.
Hunter Eisel and Keller recovered fumbles and Kyle Burrows, Brandon Harris, Keller, Lofink, Pierce, Prettyman, Robey and Mitch Spears made great tackles.
Adam Cole, Eisel, Adam Fetterman and Lofink had great blocks. Keller, Prettyman and Robey advanced the ball down field. Good efforts were recorded on defense from Nick Sinicropi and Jack Maktos and on the offense by Ben Carroll and Devon Dekoswski.
Raiders D Federal Silver
The Raiders D Silver team defeated the Elkridge Hurricanes this week. The offensive line of Preston Ricks, Steven Goetz and Cameron Ciampaglia helped quarterbacks Caleb Krause and Ben Agostino lead four scoring drives. Tristan Fallin, Jacob Pinkine, Krause and Kyle Bryant scored touchdowns while Connor Armstrong and Agostino ran in extra points.
The defense was strong with Agostino, Fallin, Kevin Lynch, Blaine Armstrong, Jimmy Toth, Eric Munk, Braden Puller and Ryan Calvin. Corey Luthe forced a fumble, with Krause recovering.
Pitbull Silver vs Pitbull Black
The Sykesville Pitbull Silver team squared off at Obrecht Field against the Sykesville Pitbull Black.
The Silver team showed a balanced running game. Rookie running back Nathan Holmes got his first touchdown of the season while Kenton Brown had several tough runs to set up teammates Travis Fuller, Colby Weishaar and Aaron Ostendorf, who were able to find the end zone for multiple scores against a stingy Pitbull Black defense.
The Silver defense held firm on several drives, especially when lineman Wyatt Dickey and Drew DeKoski tackled Pitbull Black ball carriers behind the line. Tremendous defense was displayed by Silver linemen Colby Owings, Trey Hicks and Alex Khan. Anchoring the Silver linebackers were Derek Baldwin, Dylan Smith and Luke Downs.
Raiders B-2 Federal Ferguson
The Raiders blew away the Elkridge Hurricanes, 55-6, but the highlight of the game came after the contest, when the Raiders presented an Elkridge player with the game ball for his amazing interception in Raider territory, followed by an 85-yard touchdown run.
In the game, though, it was the Raiders who were unstoppable, with touchdowns by Randall Rill (three), Chris Ricks (two), Joey Lucas, Buck Davies and Vinny Oneto, and extra points by Rill (two), Ricks (two), Lucas, Michael Ryan and Nathan Engle. Long runs by Ricks, Rill, CJ Mackinson and Ryan Upton, as well as fumble recoveries by Mackinson and Davies, interceptions by Upton, Ricks and Michael Ryan and handoffs by Connor Fenton and Mackinson helped set up these scores.
On defense, a sack by Casey McNulty and backfield tackles by Travis Smith, Alex Murri, Engle, Rill, Ricks and Lucas helped hold Elkridge.
Raiders Pitbull White
The Pitbull White team traveled to Linganore for their last game of the season Saturday. Justin Mintzer had a 38-yard touchdown pass to Blake Gable, and tough yards were gained by Blake Wisnauskas and Jordan Stokes up the middle. Connor Shephard had a quarterback sack, and Jason Hunter and Nathan Crouse had big tackles. Scoring touchdowns were Chris Gernand, Max Falconi, Logan Custred, Hunter Ebert, Tyler Stratemeyer, Kyle Rizzo and Riley Page.
Pitbull Black vs. Pitbull Silver
On Oct. 23, the Sykesville Pitbulls Black battled the Sykesville Silver Team. On defense for the Black, outstanding plays were turned in by Tyler Gemmell, James Galanakis, Brett Nastos and Bryce Ferguson in turning back the Silver offense. The offense was led by the blocking of Garrett Beebe and Cameron Hagen, allowing great runs by Nick Maggio and other running backs.
Raiders 8-10 Federal
The Raiders Silver 8-10 Federal team improved to 7 -1 by beating the Howard County Terps, 18-12, in overtime.
The Raiders scored on their first drive with a 10-yard run by Max Kirin. On their second drive, Jared Cirulli took the handoff and scampered for a 45-yard touchdown. The offensive line led by Jordan Santis, Andrew Zahn, Cole Stambaugh, Johnathan Ashby, Matt Shephard and Jake Kropinski.
After giving up two touchdowns in the first half, the Raiders held the Terps offense scoreless in the second half. The defense was led by Ryan Heim, Paul Candland and Austin Bromley who intercepted a Terps pass.
In overtime, the Max Kirin ran three times for nine yards and quarterback Ryan Heim dove into the end zone on fourth down for the win.
Raiders 8-10 Federal Black
On Oct. 24, the Raiders' 8-10 Federal Black team battled Reisterstown. The Mustangs scored on their opening drive. Sykesville was able to hold them for the rest of the half with key tackles from Stevie Jackson, David Downs, TJ Salzman, Dantaye Wyatt, Patrick Esposito and Charlie Lancelotta.
The Raiders defense, including Josh Ruehl, Ben Fish and Patrick Hunter, = played hard. After half-time, Keegan Pearl ran well to fuel the raiders offense. Tyler Cassell, Austin Keele, Nico Trombetta, Sean Wolf and Michael Fenn all helped Sean Keenan find the end zone to make it 7-7. The game went into double overtime and the Raiders were able to score on a quarterback keeper by Pearl to win, 13-7.
Raiders Federal D Black
The Raiders Federal Black squad remained undefeated at 9-0 with a 36-7 victory over the Western Howard County Warhawks Red.
The Warhawks scored on their first play, but the Raiders then reeled off 36 points. Outstanding defense was turned in by Sam Ashe, Michael Presley, Kevin Gicking, Chris Maurantonio, Sean Wolfe and Blake Kissinger.
On offense, Sykesville, Presley had 77 yards and two touchdowns, Jimmy Lucas had 76 yards and one touchdown, Harrison Trostle had 75 yards and quarterback Luke Brandenburg added 63 and two touchdowns. Extra points were run by Joey Fusee, Zach Frizzera and Lucas kicked two. Offensive lineman Braden Lee, Vince Ferraris, Jake Rogers, Matt Haerbig, Gicking and Frizzera ruled the day.
Raiders Federal White
For the second straight week, the Raiders Federal White team experienced double overtime. The offense of Jacob Housman, Hunter Hamlet, Henry Seabrook and Alec Pellicciotti brought the ball to the end zone, resulting in a Raiders touchdown in the first quarter. Carries by Seabrook and Hamlet in the second quarter resulted in Raiders first downs.
The Raiders defense of Alec Bosley, AJ Miller, David Burkhart, Jeremy Wells, Seabrook and Jack Ryan held the Warhawks scoreless in the first half. The defense of Housman, Hamlett, Miller, Wells, Seabrook, Michael McManus and Brett Barett held tough.
A touchdown by the Warhawks made the score 6-6, but a tackle by Alec Pelliciotti saved the extra point. In double overtime, a Warhawks touchdown ended the game, 12-6.
