The Sykesville Raiders 7-9 Federal White team held on for a 13-12 win over the Western Howard Warhawks on Saturday.
The Warhawks scored first, but the Raiders stopped the extra point try. Later, a fumble recovery by Jeremy Wells gave the Raiders the ball, and strong runs by Henry Seabrook scored the first Sykesville touchdown.
A tackle by Jacob Housman helped stop another Warhawks' drive, and Alec Bosley recovered a Warhawks' fumble. Two plays later, Seabrook ran 57 yards for the Raiders' second touchdown. A bootleg by Camden Tofil scored the extra point.
In the second half, defensive pressure from C.J. Sambuco set up an interception by Bret Barrett. Strong defense was turned in by Nick Fiorelli, A.J. Miller, David Burkhart, Travis Skora, Wells, Seabrook, Toby Liska, Alec Pellicciotti and Alec Bosley. The Warhawks scored one more touchdown, but on the extra point attempt, a tackle in the backfield by Wells ended the Warhawks threat and sealed the win.
Raiders 11-13 Federal
The Raiders 11-13 Federal squad defeated the Ellicott City Patriots, 14-6, on Friday to improve to 3-1. The Raiders had success on offense as Bobby Summersgill, Nick Corprew and Tommy Flaherty had multiple catches. Flaherty scored two touchdowns.
The defense came up with big plays when needed, as Brendon Golden and Tony Rettaliata each had an interception. The defense also had strong play from Joey Whitener, Jacob Harrison and Tyler Atwell.
Raiders B2 Federal Ferguson
The Sykesville B2 Raiders hosted Urbana and topped the Hawks, 21-0. Randall Rill scored on the Raiders first possession while CJ Mackinson and Chris Ricks delivered the other two touchdowns and Connor Fenton and Ricks carried in the extra points.
Strong offensive blocking by Buck Davies, Alex Murri, Garrett Hamilton, Casey McNulty and Nathan Engle helped the Raiders score. The defense of Ryan Upton, Hunter Price, Vinny Oneto, Murri, Engle, Rill and Mackinson held the Hawks from scoring, and Mackinson intercepted a pass.
Sykesville Raiders A United
The Raiders A United team came away with a dominating win Saturday against the West Carroll Veterans, 27-0.
The Raiders' Matt Caillouet returned the opening kick off 75 yards for a touchdown. On the Vets opening possession Donnie Knox got a sack and Oscar Callejas recovered a fumble. Sean Twigg ran for a touchdown and Caillouet passed to Alex Bontzos for the extra point. The second quarter included a pass to Logan Brennan in the end zone and an extra point pass to Bontzos.
The second half saw a great kickoff by Matt Pluta, a scoring run by Brennan and anextra point by Twigg.
Matt Hunter made multiple tackles and the Raiders defense of Knox, Leland Johnson, Hunter, Callejas, Joseph Adams and Brennan held the Vets to minus-90 yards.
Raiders D1 National Tucker
After a loss last week, the Raiders D1 National team came back with a vengeance against Elkridge, winning 20-0.
The Raiders got touchdowns by Nate Tucker, Zach Tucker and Spencer Kirin. Strong defense by Bryce Batson, Kirin, Z. Tucker, Cameron Collins, Jack Myers, Scott Murri, Nick Bonomo, Jett D'Eugenio, Alex Stefanick and Blade Hansarik kept the Hurricanes out of the end zone. D'Eugenio had two interceptions.
Raiders D Federal Black
The Raiders D Federal Black squad stayed unbeaten (4-0) and unscored upon by topping the Ellicott City Patriots Blue team, 20-0, at home.
The Raiders defense allowed only 12 offensive plays for the Patriots. Of note on defense were Zach Frizzera, Sam Ashe, Kevin Gicking, Jimmy Lucas, Michael Presley, Harrison Trostle, Joey Fusee, Nathan Haerbig, Blake Kissinger and Luke Brandenburg.
The Raiders offense controlled the ball, with Lucas gaining 98 yards on 12 carries. Quarterback Brandenburg ran for two touchdowns. Ten different boys ran the ball. Those with their first carries of the year included Gicking, Frizzera, Kissinger and Noah Chapman. Kissinger added a catch as well.
Raiders Federal B Silver
Saturday's game between the Raiders Federal B Silver and Ellicott City Blue was scoreless until the fourth quarte, but a late surge gave the Raiders a 12-0 win. Wesley Prettyman scored a 43-yard touchdown and Carter Robins added another score after Justin Keller carried then ball to the 2-yard line.
Keller, Lofink, Kyle Burrows, Brandon Harris, Jon Pierce, Prettyman, Levi Robey, Justin Schramm, and Mitch Spears made great tackles. Good efforts on defense were also turned in by Nick Sinicropi and Jack Maktos.
Sykesville Raiders E National
The Raiders E National squad defeated the Elkridge Hurricanes, 21-12, on Saturday.
The offense moved the ball behind the blocking of John Klein, Carter Truby and Blaine Roach. The Raiders reached the end zone on runs by Brendan Webster and Noah Rohrer. The third score came on a reverse from quarterback Emmitt Avery to Webster. Extra points were scored by Brenden Crouse and Webster.
Cole Clark-Casey made outstanding catches scoring one extra point and earning a first down. Stong kicks by Zachary Owings started the Hurricane offense deep on thier side of the field. The Raider defense was led by Tyler Dillon, Brandon Cooper, Josh Ambrose and Garrett Cooper.
Raiders Pitbulls Black
The Raiders 6-8 Black team put on a show for the home crowd as they dominated Urbana. Jacob Ashby got off to a strong start on the kickoff. The blocking of Kyle Sheetz, Greg Tetzloff, Jacob Diehl, Coby Harrison and Ben Wayland helped the Raiders record five touchdowns and two extra points. Tommy Rainey ran for a 62 yard touchdown while Evan Usi recorded more than 200 yards and four touchdowns.
Raiders 6-8 Federal Silver
The Raiders 6-8 Federal Silver team played North Carroll Panthers on Saturday in a 6-6 tie. Linebacker Ryan Clatterbuck had a fumble recovery for the Raiders, but the Panthers scored first.
But the defense of Tahj Roberts, Jack Bulakites, Connor Slein, Logan Beebe, Bobby Blackford and Brandon Will helped keep this game within reach.
Quarterback Connor Slein hit Tahj Roberts with a 60-yard pass that tied the game at 6-6. Defending the quarterback were linemen Billy Bentley, Zach Fenton, Raymond Kable and Jeremy Jones.
Raiders Pitbull White
The Raiders Pitbull White team took on North Carroll Friday.
The Raiders had good offensive production from Tyler Stratemeyer, Connor Shephard and Kyle Rizzo behind the blocking of Hunter Ebert, Max Falconi and Logan Custred. Blake Gable ran for two touchdowns and Nathan Crouse scored another on a quarterback sneak.
Shephard, Gable, Jason Hunter, Chris Gernand, Riley Page, Blake Wisnauskas, Justin Mintzer and Jordan Stokes performed well on defense.
Raiders Pitbulls Black
The Raiders Pitbulls Black also traveled to North Carroll on Friday. Kai Owens-bey cracked the Panther defense behind blocks of Sean Bulleri, Nathan Jones and Brett Nastos.
On defensive, Sykesville got outstanding tackling from Justin Hyde, Karson Koski and Jackson Glenn.
Raiders Pittbull Silver
The Raiders Pitbull Silver team played its second road game against a tough Arbutus team on Friday. The Silver got touchdowns from Colby Weishaar, Trey Hicks, Derek Baldwin and Alex Khan.
The Raiders also scored twice in the second half, led by a goal line score by Colby "Stink" Owings. Outstanding efforts were shown by linemen Dylan Smith, Wyatt Dickey and Drew Dekowski. The Raiders defensive was led by Nathan Homes, Travis Fuller, Kenton Brown and Aaron Ostendorf.
Sykesville Raiders E3 White
The Raiders E3 White team prevailed on a tough defensive battle against the North Carrol Panthers.
The Raiders defense made critical stops to keep the Panthers out of the end zone with tackles by Cole Baker, Will Dobrzykowski, Sam Candland and Hunter Rask. The Raiders' Sean Kirker also recovered a fumble. Sacks by Sam Challungsooth and Brady Rubenstein frustrated the Panthers offense.
The Raiders' offense had drives behind the blocking of Ben Voigt, Cameron Werner, Zach Stump and Max Downs. In the final two minutes, the offense came alive with a 90-yard run by Takota Stoner for the touchdown with great blocking by Brett Kropinski.
