    Thursday 07-02

    Songs at Six The Downtown Westminster Main Street Program will host an evening music concert series on Locust Lane, Songs at Six, beginning this Thursday at 6 p.m. with the Robert Allen Blues Band. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. The Locust Lane Stage is at 43 E. Main St. For details or sponsorship opportunities, call Stan at 410-848-5294.

    Fired up in Manchester Fireworks will be featured on Thursday at the Manchester Volunteer Fire Department carnival, 3397 York St., Manchester. The free fireworks show starts at dusk. In addition, the band, Iron Ridge, will perform throughout the evening. Call Steve Miller 410-239-3200.

    Friday 07-03

    Sign me up Eldersburg Library, 6400 Hemlock Drive, Eldersburg, will host two programs on Friday about America Sign Language. At 9:45 a.m., Kathy MacMillan will lead a program for ages up to 24 months. Then at 10:45 a.m., she will lead another program for ages 2-4. Both will include age-appropriate stories, songs, activities and games, along with tips and tricks for parents and caregivers on using signs in everyday activities. Call 410-386-4460.

    Saturday 07-04

    Everything Eagle "Bald Eagles: Our National Bird," is a program on the Fourth of July, 2-3 p.m., for all ages, at the Piney Run Nature Center, 30 Martz Road, Sykesville. Learn about the behavior, life, habitat and status of the eagle. Cost is $5. Call 410-795-6043.

    Fabulous Fourth The Carroll County Farm Museum will host its Independence Day events on Saturday. Bands, food, crafters, wagon rides and more. Then, the annual fireworks show is held at 9:30 p.m., hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Carroll County. From noon to 5 p.m., admission is $5 for adults, $3 for ages 7-18 and 60 and older. Children 6 and younger are free with a paying adult. At 5 p.m., the cost is a $6 per car to help pay for the fireworks.     Sunday 07-05

    Cherry in season Singer, songwriter and musician Ellen Cherry will perform 12:30-2:40 p.m. at this month's Sykesville Apple Butter Market. The market is held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at South Branch Park, located at W. Friendship Road and Main St., Sykesville. The market features artisans, crafts, live entertainment, music and food.     Spiral into Sunday Westminster's Month of Sundays summer concert series will debut for 2009 on Sunday, 6:45 to 9:15 p.m. with the group, Spiral. The free concert is held at Westminster City Park, 11 Longwell Ave., Westminster. Bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating. Food and beverages will be sold. Donations of personal care items for all ages will benefit Human Services Programs of Carroll County Inc. Call 410-386-2103 or 410-848-4883.

    Monday 07-06

    Songs of the Civil War The next Learning Lunch at the Carroll County Farm Museum, 500 S. Center St., Westminster, will be held Monday, noon-1 p.m. Father and daughter Mike and Laura Medairy will describe music that was popular during the Civil War. Cost is $2; bring a lunch.     Tuesday 07-07

    Education session Carroll Community College will host a free information session regarding its External Diploma Program Tuesday, 9 a.m., at 224 N. Center St., Westminster.
