In reference to the editorial in the Aug. 6 edition of The Eagle, I, too, am against the slots bill, but for different reasons than you state.

As I understand the bill, it only allows slots in five locations. Who chooses the locations?

What's going to happen to the tracks that don't get slots?

If we are going to legalize slots, they should be available to anyone running a business. I understand 70 percent of the take would go to the state. In Nevada only 12 percent goes to the state. This is not a good bill for the citizens of Maryland.

I would suggest that The Eagle print a copy of the bill so the citizens can read it and decide for themselves if it is going to be good for them and Maryland.

Editor's Note: Thanks for the idea. The text of the Constitutional Amendment allowing slots is now at the Web site, www.explorecarroll.com.
