Lewis F. Thomas, 51, of Taylorsville, died April 16, 2009, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House in Westminster.

Born May 13, 1957, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Gloria Ochsenreiter Thomas and the late Charles B. Thomas of New Windsor.

He was the companion of the late Denise Gubisch and former husband of Nancy Garner.

He grew up in Hyattsville and attended Northwestern High School and High Point Senior High School.

He worked in construction his entire life and had been employed with Visnic Homes of Rockville.

He is survived by son and daughter-in-law Jason F. and Kate Thomas; daughter and son-in-law Hollie and Chad Barnett; siblings Charles "Chant" Thomas and wife Susanna, Cathy Moore and husband Dan, Gloria "Ree" Gisriel and husband Bill, and Bill Thomas. He is also survived by nieces and nephews Danny and Chris Moore, Ava Bastress and Michael Thomas and Kyle and Emily Gisriel; and by great-niece Alexis Bastress.

A funeral liturgy was scheduled for April 21 at St. John's Catholic Church, Westminster. Interment is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, at Rock Creek Cemetery, Washington, D.C.

Memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157; or to the Winfield Volunteer Fire Company, 1320 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, MD 21784.
