The Rev. James Lloyd Rousey Jr., 73, of Sykesville, died April 7, 2009, at Sinai Hospital, Baltimore.

Born Jan. 10, 1936, in Clinton, Ill., he was the son of the late James Lloyd Rousey Sr. and the late Frances Iola Gallaher Knight.

He was the husband of Ruth Ann Rousey (nee Atteberry), his wife of 51 years.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Korean conflict.

He had worked as an assistant director of facilities maintenance for the Maryland Department of Corrections, and had served as an interim pastor for numerous churches over the years. He was also a prison chaplain for many years.

He enjoyed woodworking and motorcycles.

Surviving him, in addition to his wife, are son John M. Rousey of Sykesville; sons and daughters-in-law James W. and Tammy Rousey and Mohy and Sharine Ahmed, all of Sykesville; daughter-in-law Shannon Rousey of Westminster; brothers Terry Rousey of Floyd's Knob, Ind., and Steve Rousey of Champaigne, Ill.; and grandchildren Matthew Kushel and his wife Melissa, Patrick Rousey, Justin Rousey, Megan Kushel, Connor Rousey, Zanib and Habiba Ahmed and Kathrine and A.J. Thawly.

A funeral service was held April 11 at the Northwest Baptist Church, Reisterstown, with Pastor Gary Glanville officiating. Interment was in Springfield Cemetery, Sykesville.
