Mary Virginia Grimes, 94, of Westminster and formerly of Manchester, died Nov. 13, 2008, at the Carroll Hospice Dove House.
Born May 20, 1914, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late C. Herbert Bange and Mollie A. Myers Bange.
She was the wife of Russell Robert "Jim" Grimes, who died July 2, 1991.
Prior to retiring, she was a nurse's aide at Rosewood State Hospital. She was a member of Greenmount United Methodist Church, the Manchester Senior Citizens, AARP and also was Queen Mother of the Red Hat Ladies.
She is survived by step-daughter Mary Lawrence of New Windsor; sister Carrie Hann of Hanover, Pa.; and by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, a great-great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by step-children Pauline Graf and Edith V. Grimes Myers; by sister Edna Yingling; and by brother Charles Bange.
Funeral services were held Nov. 17 at Fletcher Funeral Home, PA, Westminster, with her pastor, the Rev. Patricia Dols, officiating with assistance by the Rev. Philip Tocknell. Interment was in Meadow Branch Cemetery.

Elizabeth L. Riddle, 80, of Westminster
Elizabeth L. "Betty Lee" Riddle, 80, of Westminster, died Nov. 10, 2008, at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Born July 18, 1928, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Frank Patrick Wall Jr. and Virginia Haupt Wall.
She was the wife of Walter C. Riddle Jr. of Westminster, her husband of 59 years.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing bridge.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by son and daughter-in-law Walter C. "Rip" III and Marilyn W. Riddle of Gamber; son Robert Lee Riddle and former daughter-in-law Linda B. Riddle of Virginia Beach; and daughter and son-in-law Beth and Paul L. Bogat of Westminster. She is also survived by grandchildren Benjamin, Andrew, Emily, Lindsey, Leslie, Jason, Nina and Sean; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers Robert W. Haupt and Frank Patrick Wall III.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Nov. 20, 11 a.m. in Krug Chapel at Carroll Lutheran Village, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster.

Ruth Josephine Bowers, 88, of Westminster
Ruth Josephine Bowers, 88, of Westminster, died Nov. 9, 2008, at the Lorien Assisted Living in Mount Airy.
Born Feb. 12, 1920, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mae Groft.
Her husband, Weldon L. "Bill" Bowers Sr., died May 26, 2005.
Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, knitting and baking. Family and friends enjoyed her chicken pot pie and sugar cookies.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Ruth J. and Robert Edwards of Satsuma, Fla., Mary Jane and Ronald Long of Manassas, Va. and Linda A. and Richard Nelson of Union Bridge; son Gene L. Bowers of Westminster; and sons and daughters-in-law John H. and Ginger Bowers of San Antonio, Texas, Preston L. Sr. and Marge Bowers of Westminster, Carroll T. and Lula Bowers of New Windsor, Timothy A. and Wanda Bowers of Westminster and Robert K. and Laura Bowers of New Windsor.
She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by son and daughter-in-law Weldon L. Jr. and Margaret Bowers, and by granddaughter Monica Long.
Funeral services were held Nov. 17 at Fletcher Funeral Home in Westminster. Interment in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

Larry Wilson Tracey, 54, of Finksburg
Larry Wilson Tracey, 54, of Finksburg, died Nov. 9, 2008, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster after an extended illness.
Born June 24, 1954, in Maryland, he was the son of James Franklin Tracey and Louise Wilson Mason of Finksburg.
He was the husband of Denise Simms Tracey of Finksburg.
He had owned and operated Tracey Lawn Service with his wife since 1989. He attended Bethesda United Methodist Church in Sykesville, where he enjoyed organizing fundraisers. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed time with family and friends, especially at Piney Run Park.
He enjoyed crabbing and fishing at the ocean. He loved decorating the house with Christmas lights and recently had enjoyed spending quality time with his grandson, Carter.
Surviving him, in addition to his wife and parents, are son David Wilson Tracey, daughter Jennifer Renee Tracey; and daughters and sons-in-law Crystie L. Tracey and Tom Joy of Taneytown, Crystal G. and Dale Glass of Sykesville and Tabitha L. Simms and partner Sue Levin of Eldersburg.
Also surviving him are grandson Carter P. Glass of Sykesville; aunt Virginia Marriott of Sykesville; stepfather Clarence Mason; brother and sister-in-law Kenny and Cindy Tracey of Reisterstown; sister-in-law Kitty Tracey of Finksburg; nieces Tracy Tracey of Baltimore and Michelle Brundick of Reisterstown; and nephew Kenny Tracey Jr. of Reisterstown.
Funeral services were held Nov. 12 at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, Sykesville, with the Rev. Mary Steinwandt officiating. Interment was in Bethesda UMC Cemetery, Sykesville.
