Kathryn Riley Mathias, 100, of Westminster, died Oct. 4, 2008, at her home.
Born July 22, 1908, in Philadelphia, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John J. and Anna (Cowling) Riley.
Twice married, she was the wife of the late C. Herbert McMahon who died in 1957, and the late Joseph L. Mathias Jr. who died in 1987.
She was a graduate of then-Towson State University with a bachelor's degree in teaching. There, she was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Alpha Chapter.
She was retired in 1970 after 34 years teaching elementary school in Baltimore County Public Schools. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Westminster, the retired teachers associations of Maryland (Baltimore County), and the National Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of the Woman's Club of Westminster and the Historical Society of Carroll County.
She is survived by son Charles "Mac" H. McMahon Jr. of Pokomoke City, Md., and step-daughter and spouse Mary Ellen and Michael Carosella of San Diego, Calif.
Also surviving her are seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by brother John "Jack" J. Riley and step-son Joseph L. Mathias III.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, at St. John Catholic Church in Westminster, with Monsignor Arthur Valenzano as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Westminster Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster. A Christian Wake service will be held at 8 p.m. on Thursday.

Mickey Charles Lippy, 34, of Westminster
Trooper First Class Mickey Charles Lippy, 34, of Westminster, died Sept. 28, 2008, in a helicopter crash while performing a medical transport in Prince George's County.
Born Jan. 7, 1974, in Baltimore, he was the son of Bruce Lippy and Wilma Newberrey Lippy.
He was the husband of Christina Elaine "Chrissy" Patchett Lippy, his wife of 8 years.
Lippy was a four-year veteran of the Maryland State Police and a flight paramedic assigned to the Aviation Command, based at Andrews Air Force Base in Camp Springs.
He was assigned to Trooper 2, the busiest Medevac helicopter in America, in April 2007 and served there until his death. He was previously assigned to the Glen Burnie and Westminster Barrack.
He was employed as a part-time engineer/paramedic with the Gamber & Community Fire Company since 2004. He was an active member with the Owings Mills Volunteer Fire Company since 1994 and previously held the positions of fire and emergency medical service lieutenant.
Prior to becoming a State Trooper, he was a firefighter and paramedic with the Anne Arundel County Fire Department for four years, assigned to the Marley Station.
He received the State Police Life Saving Award in September 2008 for quick recognition and treatment of a life-threatening injury that saved a patient's life.
He was a nationally-registered emergency medical technician paramedic and received numerous certifications from the Maryland Fire Rescue Institute.
He attended Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, W. Va., before transferring to Essex Community College where he received an associate's degree in 1995.
Lippy had also taken classes at Towson University. He graduated from Calvert Hall College High School in 1992 where he played football and lacrosse. In football he was named MSA Offensive Player of the Year in 1991, and was nationally recruited in both sports. He also spent time working as an assistant trainer while still a student.
He was devoted husband, loving father and enjoyed spending time with his nieces.
He enjoyed vacations to Deep Creek Lake with his family and friends. He was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed coaching football for Hereford High School and Parkville Panthers recreational football program.
In 1997, as a linebacker coach, he helped lead Hereford High to a state championship.
Surviving him, in addition to his parents and wife, are daughter Madison Jade Lippy of Westminster; sisters and brothers-in-law Diane and Kyle Martin of Parkville and Dawn and Randy Childs of White Hall; grandmother Bessie Lippy of Chestnut Ridge; father- and mother-in-law Thomas and Elaine "Doll" Patchett Engelhart of Bel Air; sister-in-law Katherine R. Hazlett of Bel Air; and grandmother-in-law Elaine B. Patchett (who died shortly after Trooper Lippy on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008).
He is also survived by stepbrothers- and stepsisters-in-law Phillip and Monica Levin, Robert and Kelly Engelhart and Nicole Engelhart; aunts and uncles Carol Jean and Al Minton of Manchester, Carol Hofmiester of Abingdon, Dottie Eaton of Columbus, Neb., Kay Vetri of Baltimore, Anna and Albert Patchett III of Mount Airy and John W. Patchett and Debbie Shanahan of North Point.
Also remembering him are nieces and nephews Kylie Childs, Alexandra Childs, Trace Childs and Catherine Childs, all of White Hall, Savanna Martin and Lillian Martin of Parkville; Shania Levin, Joanna Levin and Ben Levin of Reisterstown; and cousins Lisa, Kimmie and Michael, John Jr. and Michele Patchett, Jackie Patchett and Ashley Patchett.
He was preceded in death by uncle William Newberrey, grandfather-in-law Albert Patchett Jr. and step sister-in-law Tonya Engelhart.
Funeral services were held Oct. 3, 2008, at the Gamber & Community Fire Company, 3838 Niner Road, Finksburg, with the Rev. Michael Adams officiating.
Arrangements were by Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, PA, Owings Mills.

Clarence E. Kitchen, 83, of Finksburg
Clarence E. Kitchen, 83, of Finksburg, died Sept. 24, 2008, at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster.
Born Oct. 31, 1924, in Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Frank and Agnes Adams Kitchen.
He was the husband of Martha Kitchen of Finksburg.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II.
He had been a custom home builder for most of his life. He was a member of Liberty Reformed Presbyterian Church.
Surviving him, in addition to his wife, are son and daughter-in-law John and Elena Kitchen of Finksburg; daughters and sons-in-law Nancy and Ken Wanzer of Sykesville and Barbara and Greg Mullinix of Woodbine; sister Anna Meyerhoffer of Delaware; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Oct. 6, at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, Sykesville, with Pastor Barry Cureton officiating. Interment with military honors was in Mount Paran Church Cemetery.
Thomas Albert Kehoe, 82, of Westminster
Thomas Albert Kehoe, 82, of Westminster, died Oct. 1, 2008, at Transitions Health Care in Sykesville.
Born July 16, 1926, in Westminster, he was the son of the late Edward Kehoe Sr. and Madeline Massicott Kehoe.
He was the husband of Lillian Haines Kehoe, his wife of 57 years.
Prior to retiring, he worked for Bendix Radio, John Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory and Comsat.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II, and was a member of VFW Moleville Farm Post 467.
He was a member of St. John Catholic Church.
Surviving him are daughters and sons-in-law Marcia K. and Daniel Wrobleski of Chelsea, Mass., Mary K. and Jack Schneider of Rocky Ridge and Jennifer K. and Robert Smith III of Upperco.
He is also survived by sons T. Michael Kehoe of Washington state and John C. Kehoe of Westminster; brother Richard J. Kehoe of Westminster; sister and brother-in-law Mary K. and Dean Leppo of Union Mills; and sister-in-law Merle Kehoe of LaPorte, Texas. Also remembering him are 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brother Edward Kehoe Jr. and by sister-in-law Ann C. Kehoe. Memorial services were held Oct. 7 at Fletcher Funeral Home, Westminster. Interment was private.

Gilbert Anderson Edwards, 74, of Westminster, died Oct. 1, 2008, at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster.
He was born April 26, 1934, in Spruce Pine, N.C.
He was the husband of the late Betty Jane Edwards, who died in 1998.
He was a truck driver for many years and was last employed by Bosley Construction Co. in Reisterstown.
He was an avid fisherman and spent many days on the Nicodemus Bridge with his fiends, fishing. When he wasn't working or fishing, he could be found having a cold one at the Colonial Inn.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law Gilbert "Junior" and Ruth Edwards of Lutherville; sons Ricky Edwards of Reisterstown and David Edwards of Princeton, N.C.
He is also survived by daughters and sons-in-law Brenda and Ray Strauss of Manchester and Betty and Matt Shatzer of Westminster; and daughter Judi Shatzer of Westminster. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who he loved, cherished and enjoyed for many years.
He was preceded in death by son Jerry Edwards, son-in-law George Shatzer and all of his brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were held Oct. 3 at Fletcher Funeral Home, Westminster, with the Rev. Jimmie Schwartz, chaplain of Carroll Lutheran Village, officiating. Interment was in Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery, Upperco.

Oliver Dorsey Chenoweth, 84, of Westminster, died Oct. 2, 2008, at Carroll Hospice Dove House, in Westminster.
Born Oct. 9, 1923, in Baltimore he was the son of the late Oliver Dorsey Chenoweth and Marquerite Palmer Chenoweth. He was the husband of the late Florence Moore Chenoweth.
He was retired from the Baltimore County Sheriff's Department.
He is survived by devoted friend Barbara Holtzman of Westminster; brother Donald Chenoweth of Florida; and niece Elizabeth Pearsall of Baltimore.
He was preceded in death by son Larry Chenoweth.

Jeremiah L. Hymiller, 77, of Woodbine, died Oct. 1, 2008, at his home.
He was born Dec. 29, 1930, in Sykesville, the son of the late Jeremiah N. Hymiller and the late Rosie Farver Hymiller.
He was the beloved husband of Shirley M. Hymiller (nee Beaver).
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and worked as an auto mechanic.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law Jerry P. and Michele Hymiller of Frederick; and brothers Nathan Hymiller of Sykesville and George Hymiller of Mount Airy.
He was the loving grandfather of Monica Hymiller.
He was preceded in death by sister Helen Stauffer and brother Frank A. Hymiller.
A funeral service was held Oct. 4, at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, Winfield. Interment was in Poplar Springs Cemetery.
