Carroll County Sheriff's Office says housekeeper cleaned out her customers
Woman charged with theft of jewelry, cash, rare coins

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is seeking residents’ help in an investigation of thefts that detectives believe were carried out by a 52-year-old Westminster housekeeper.
Karen Ann Malinowski is being held at the Carroll County Detention Center without bail, charged with stealing several pieces of sterling silver flatware from a housekeeping customer.
The July 15 charges are in addition to several placed in June for the theft of more than $13,000 of jewelry, cash and rare coins from another customer.
Malinowski is currently awaiting trial on the charges of theft greater than $10,000.
The sheriff’s office said she had advertised her housekeeping services on grocery store bulletin boards, and is known to have customers across Carroll and parts of Baltimore counties.
Sheriff’s detectives have been using canceled checks and business ledgers to contact her customers, but believe several of Malinowski’s customers, many of whom are elderly or disabled, may have paid for housekeeping services with cash.
Anyone who believes they were the victim of a theft by Malinowski, or who has information about these incidents, may contact Detective Cpl. Doug Epperson at 410-386-2900, or the Anonymous TIPS Hotline at 1-888-399-TIPP.
