WESTMINSTER — The Board of County Commissioners this week approved a bid to replace Greenmount Church Road bridge over Murphy Run, as well as two other public works projects.

The commissioners approved a bid of about $426,400 to Kinsley Construction out of eight submitted bids.

The federal government's Highway Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation Program will fund 80 percent of the project, the county will fund the remainder.

Work is expected to start in April, according to the county's Web site. The new bridge will handle two-way traffic.

A $2.46 million bid to CJ Miller LLC was also approved to pave Center Street, and Gorsuch and Kate Wagner roads in Westminster and Ridge Road in Marriottsville. The work is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, funded by the federal government.

Paving is expected to begin in April and end in June.

The commissioners also approved a $948,000 bid to CJ Miller LLC to pave Brown, Finger and Hyser roads in Taneytown. Drainage improvements are also included. Work is slated to begin in May and finish in August.
