The Hampstead Community Expo, formerly the Hampstead Business Expo, is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 27, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., inside the cafeteria and auditorium at North Carroll High School, 1400 Panther Drive, Hampstead.
Admission is free.
"We changed it to the Hampstead Community Expo from the Hampstead Business Expo to let everyone know it's more for the community -- instead of business-to-business," said Wayne Thomas, expo chairman and member of the Hampstead Business Association.
Drawings, door prizes, entertainment, Mickey Mouse and Elmo -- and even flu shots -- are among the expo features.
The Carroll County Health Department will run its swine flu vaccination clinic at the school during the same hours. The shots are fee.
Another highlight of the event includes a raffle for either a 50-inch plasma HDTV or a 42-inch LCD HDTV, Thomas said.
Thomas said he hopes for a large turnout, as people seek an avenue to shed some cabin fever after the recent storms.
Some restaurants in town have already seen that, he said, as their businesses are faring well, but some other shops have not seen "post-snowpocalypse" traffic.
"The businesses are doing as well as can be expected," he said. "All businesses are open that are usually open for business."
As of early this past week, some 44 vendors were confirmed for the event, Thomas said, though he expected that number to swell to up to 70. WTTR Radio will simulcast at the event.
