WESTMINSTER — The Carroll County Planning and Zoning Commission will this week review proposed changes to the plan for Piney Ridge Village Center, in Eldersburg. The changes take Salerno's Restaurant and Catering out of the plan.

The commission is slated to review an amended plan on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 11 a.m., in the County Office Building, 225 N. Center St., Westminster.

Piney Ridge Village Center is slated to be built at Johnsville Road and Freedom Avenue. In January, Bruce Reamer, owner of Salerno's and a partner in the Piney Ridge project, told The Eagle that apartments and office space will replace the restaurant at the new center, and that Salerno's will stay at 1043 Liberty Road, Eldersburg.

The recession, a bank merger and changes in Salerno's operations factored in the decision, he said.

At the same meeting, at 10 a.m., the commission will hear a presentation on Lehigh Cement Co.'s proposed 4.5-mile conveyor belt between its Union Bridge plant and its New Windsor quarry. Lehigh plans to built the conveyor to move 10,600 tons of limestone per day between the two facilities.
