County officials said that snow clearing crews are continuing to try and clear more than 900 miles of county-maintained
roads. Because of the speed of snowfall, however, significant progress
will not be noticeable until the snow slows down.
Officials are
urging residents not to go out onto the roads. Heavy equipment and four-wheel drive vehicles
are not able to get through the roads during these extreme conditions.
All county facilities are closed on Saturday. This includes
Northern Landfill, Hoods Mill Landfill, Hap Baker Firearms Facility, and all
county parks.
Piney Run Park’s SledFest will NOT be held this weekend.
A non-emergency information line at the Emergency Operations
Center can be reached at 1-888-543-8362.
Closures
Northern and Hoods Mill landfills are closed Saturday.
The
Carroll County Humane Society is closed Saturday. Animals at the
shelter will be fed, but the Humane Society will be closed to visitors.
Cancellatios
Sykesville Historic Colored School House Open House for Sunday is canceled.
