To carry on Dr. King's dream, I have done a lot for my community. Three things I would like to talk about are recycling, starting a sports team, and helping at my elementary school's Market Day.

Every week my family and I put out bins of recycling. We usually put out three to four bins of recycling each week. One time my family put out four bins and two trash bags full of recycling! We recycle bottles, paper, boxes and anything else that can be recycled. I feel that recycling is important because we are using up our natural resources so quickly, so that when I recycle I know that I am helping the earth and environment by letting my products be reused.

Another thing my family and I have done is start a rugby team in the area. We are called the Freedom Fighters. My family used to have to travel forty-five minutes just so we could play rugby on a team. By creating a team closer to where we live, it saves the earth from pollution because we don't have to travel as far. Also, this team gives kids, boy or girl seven through fifteen, something to do after school. This keep them out of trouble and in shape.

The third thing I am going to talk about is how I volunteer at my elementary school's Market Day. Market Day is when our school's parents buy food and then come and pick up the food. My job is to set up the table and put food where it is supposed to go. I make sure all the food is accounted for and that if someone can't find what they are looking for, I help them. Then when it's over, I help clean up.

The last thing I am going to talk about is my twelfth birthday. Instead of presents, I had my friends bring canned goods. When the party was over I had collected a whole bag of canned goods. After the party, we took the canned goods to my local church. They took them and gave them to families who didn't have enough food.

These are just a couple of the things that I have done for my community. I hope to do more things in the future to help the environment and other people.
