The following commemorations of Veterans Day are scheduled in Carroll County:

* Tue., Nov. 10, 10 a.m., South Carroll High School Veterans Day Reception, including student interviews with veterans, a reading of "In Flanders Fields" and a playing of "Taps." Veterans interested in attending may call Brad or Bonnie at 410-751-3575.

* Wed., Nov. 11, 8 a.m., Veterans Day ceremony at Winters Mill High School, including presentation by the Winters Mill JROTC.

* Wed., Nov. 11, 4 p.m., Westminster Veterans Day service at the Old Westminster Armory, 11 Longwell Ave., hosted by the City of Westminster and Carroll Post 31 American Legion. The service is open to the public and honors veterans of the past and present. Call 410-857-7953 or 410-876-0746.

* Wed., Nov. 11, 7 p.m., annual Veterans Day Ceremony, hosted by Sykesville Memorial Post No. 223, 7327 Slacks Road, Sykesville. Call 410-795-7242.

* Sat., Nov. 14, 6-10 a.m., annual G.I. Jive World War II-era Dinner and Dance, at the Sykesville-Freedom District Volunteer Fire Hall, Route 32 at Freedom Avenue. Hosted by South Carroll Rotary Club. Cost is $30, or a table of eight for $210; free for World War II veterans. Attendees and veterans may dress in uniform or period costume. Call 410-79  5-8959.
