There were no trains, but plenty of planes and automobiles at Carroll County Regional Airport, in Westminster, June 21 at the joint Fly-In & Antique Car Show, sponsored by the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Chesapeake Region chapter of the Antique Automobile Club of America. Top left, one classic car is reflected in the hubcap of another. Above, from left, Ray Wenzel of Hanover, Pa., John Raffensparger of Parkton, Bruce Knott, of Finksburg, and Jack Savage of Westminster talk about Raffensparger’s 1963 Studebaker GT Hawk. Raffensparger bought the car new and paid $100 a month for three years. “I went on my honeymoon in 1964 in this car, and I still have my original wife, too,” he said.

Below, Vicky Ardis catches a ride in Jon Angel’s 1957 Focke-Wulf 149D, a German military training aircraft.
Angel is a member of an EAA chapter in Florida and flew his plane in for the event. And at left, Fiona Ward, 10, Brendan Ward, 5, and Sarah Ward, 8, all of Westminster, check out a gyroplane built from a kit and powered by a Subaru car engine.
