Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 29, the State Highway Administration will detour truck traffic along eastbound and westbound Route 140 in Taneytown. The detour will last for up to two years, according to SHA officials. Local deliveries and school buses will continue to have access to Route 140, but trucks five tons gross vehicle weight and more will have to use the detour.

The move is part of the streetscape construction project in Taneytown. To make room for the construction, the SHA reduced the lane width on Route 140, creating challenges for trucks to safely navigate the work zone. Truck traffic along Route 140 will be detoured using the following routes:

*Trucks heading west on Route 140 will be detoured north along Route 97 (Littlestown Pike) through Pennsylvania then south on Emmitsburg Road back to Route 140.

*Trucks traveling east along Route 140 will be detoured onto Emmitsburg Road through Pennsylvania then south on Littlestown Pike back to Route 140.

Those who have questions about the project may call SHA's District 7 Office toll free at 1-800-635-5119.
