FACC -- a volunteer, non-governmental group -- is collecting signatures for a petition the group is circulating to pressure Kmart to settle with developer Black Oak Associates so that the Carrolltown Center can be redeveloped.
Kmart has a long-term lease at Carrolltown, located at Ridge and Liberty roads, Eldersburg, and one of the stipulations in the lease is that it has to approve of plans for its store in a new development.
A date for the two sides to meet has not been set, Dix said.
FACC hosted its monthly meeting last Thursday, Sept. 18, and the group had collected more than 120 signatures for its petition, Dix said. The group will post its petition at www.freedomareacitizens.org, hoping more people will sign, she said.
