'Goldi' in the house Mount Airy Library, 705 Ridge Ave., Mount Airy, will host a winter puppet show, "Goldilocks and the Three Bears," on Monday at 10 a.m., for all ages. Goldilocks is out for a walk in the woods, and makes herself at home in the house of Mama Bear, Papa Bear and Baby Bear. Children 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. What's up, Poe? Eldersburg Library, 6400 W. Hemlock Drive, will host "What's Eating Edgar Allan Poe?" at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, for ages 11 to adult. Edgar Allan Poe will be on hand to share some of his most memorable tales of intrigue and suspense. Butt out If you made a New Year's resolution to quit smoking, the program, "Jump Start to Quitting Tobacco," may help. The program will be held at the Taneytown Library, 10 Grand Drive, Taneytown, on Thursday at 6 p.m. This two-hour clinic is presented by the Carroll County Health Department, and there will be vouchers for nicotine replacement therapy and Chantix available (doctor's prescription required for Chantix). Two strings Guitar and folk specialists Pete Kennedy and Mark Stuart will perform in a rare joint appearance in concert at Baldwin's Station, 7618 Main St., Sykesville, on Thursday at 8 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for dining. Westminster's star trek Join the Westminster Astronomical Society under the star dome at the Bear Branch Nature Center, 300 John Owings Road, Westminster, to learn about the stars and constellations of the night sky in a planetarium show on Saturday, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Following each show, WAS members invite attendees outside for a star party to observe nighttime sights, weather permitting. Cantata, take two The music ministry of St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, will present its rescheduled Christmas Cantata on Sunday, 3 to 4 p.m. at the church.
