The expo will familiar attractions such as local business displays, demonstrations and youth group performances; but this year's event will also feature appearances former Baltimore Ravens' running back Musa Smith and offensive tackle Spencer Folau.
Folau's time with the team included an appearance in the Ravens' Super Bowl XXXV victory in 2001.
The duo will be on hand for autographs and photos, said Jon Allen, South Carroll Business Association president.
"We're trying to make it the biggest expo yet," he said.
The fourth annual South Carroll Business Association Expo will be held Saturday, May 9, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Liberty High School, 5855 Bartholow Road, Eldersburg.
The SCBA is a nonprofit group made up of businesses and business owners in the South Carroll area that help each other network and market and sponsors community events. It was founded in 1995.
And no, you aren't imagining things -- the last expo was just held in September. The spring is actually the regular time that the expo is held, so the event is on track again, Allen said.
Also at the expo is Mark "TNT" Tucker, a Howard County professional boxer. The Sykesville-area resident will also be on hand for autographs, Allen said.
The event is a way for people to get to know what local businesses offer, as well as to offer free entertainment for the family, Allen said.
Free activities include massages, haircuts, flower pot painting, photo sessions and many giveaways.
New for this year is a kid zone in the auditorium, Allen said.
"We're going to have a big moon bounce obstacle course and vendors that are kid-related, such as Gym Jam," Allen said.
Jam's Music Store will also host a South Carroll Music Showcase at the expo.
In addition to business information and exhibits, the expo will also include food for sale by Salerno's and Liberatore's restaurants, and breakfast items will also be sold.
There will also be a silent auction to raise money for the business association, and daylong performances throughout the expo by Sykesville's own Silly Willy The Clown.
WTTR-AM 1470 will also be live on-air broadcasting from the event, Allen said.
