Drew Stevyns of Eldersburg will have to settle for being in the top 10 of NBC's "America's Got Talent."
The 29-year-old Stevyns (whose real name is Drew Piotrowski) was one of
10 finalists for the NBC show, modeled somewhat after “American Idol.” He was eliminated early on in Wednesday's finale in favor of the eventual winner Kevin Skinner, a chicken catcher from Kentucky who played country tunes.
The runner-up was an opera singer from Texas, Barbara Padilla.
The winner receives a $1 million prize and a Las Vegas show, headlining at the MGM.
Stevyns' father Steve Piotrowski told The Eagle in a prior interview that both his son and the family would be fine if he wouldn't win.
"We’re proud of him and he knows this," Piotrowski said. "The pride we have for his accomplishments to date is as if he’s won the whole thing."
Stevyns had mentioned on Tuesday's "Elliot In The Morning" radio show on WWDC/DC101 that he would come home and probably celebrate at a bar with a few of his friends regardless of the outcome.
