    Arthritis support The Fibromyalgia/Arthritis Support Group will meet Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at The Women's Place, 291 Stoner Ave., Westminster. Attendees are welcome to bring a lunch and beverage to the meeting. Call 410-871-6161. Sponsored by the Arthritis Foundation

    It's in the stars The Westminster Astronomical Society will meet Wednesday, 7:30-9:30 p.m. at Bear Branch Nature Center, 300 John Owings Road, Westminster. Come for a night of events and information about amateur astronomy. Guest speaker Eric Winter will discuss The Fermi Mission, a particle physics partnership developed by NASA and U.S. Department of Energy.

    Thursday 03-11

    Green Teens Bear Branch Nature Center, 300 John Owings Road, Westminster will host Green Teens, a program geared toward home school students, on Thursday, 2-3:30 p.m. The program is for ages 13-18, and the session includes time outdoors learning about natural history and completing conservation-related projects. Teens should dress for the outdoors. Cost is $5. Call 410-386-3580.

    Irish 'Commitments' Film Lovers in Carroll County will host a screening of the film, "The Commitments," at Carroll Arts Center, 91 W. Main St., Westminster, on Friday at 8 p.m. The 1991 film, rated R, celebrates music and Irish spirit, and is being screened as a way to kick off the St. Patrick's Day weekend. Tickets are $6 for adults, $5 for arts council members, seniors and students. Call 410/848-7272.

    Saturday 03-13

    Tea time at CCC An American Girl Tea Party will be held Saturday, 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m., at Carroll Community College, 1601 Washington Road, Westminster. Participants can make crafts, enjoy refreshments, take home Valentine's gifts and meet American Girl doll characters. The cost is $30 per child, and $5 per adult. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Seating is limited. Participants may bring American Girl dolls or any favorite dolls, and wear tea party clothes.     Got toys? The annual Toy Auction and Show hosted by the Taneytown Volunteer Fire Company will be held Saturday and Sunday at the Taneytown carnival grounds and activities building, 49 Memorial Dr., Taneytown. On Saturday, doors open at noon and the auction begins at 4 p.m. On Sunday, the show runs 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Hess trucks, tractors, collector items and food. Call Donald Shoemaker at 443-277-6204.

    Barleyjuice on tap The Celtic-rock band Barleyjuice will perform Saturday in two shows -- 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. -- at the Carroll Arts Center, 91 W. Main St., Westminster. The band features guitars, banjos, mandolins, fiddles, tin whistles, bagpipes, accordions and Irish bodrans. Tickets for the 2 p.m. show are $20. For the 8 p.m. show, tickets are $25 adults and $22 for arts council members, seniors and students. Call 410-848-7272. The show is sponsored by Dr. Patrick Gallagher, DDS, and Best Western Hotel & Conference Center.

    Wheels of Mutiny The Chesapeake Roller Derby team, Mutiny, will face off against the Richmond (Va.) Derby Demons on Saturday at the Carroll County Agriculture Center's Shipley Arena, 700 Agriculture Center Dr., Westminster. Doors open at 5 p.m., the match begins at 6 p.m. and there's a fan party after the derby until 10 p.m. Tickets are $15, and $8 for ages 12 and under.     Sunday 03-14

    Green cabbage, bluegrass St. Benjamin's Lutheran Church, 700 Krider's Cemetery Road, Westminster, will host a corned beef and cabbage luncheon Sunday, noon-3 p.m. Also on the menu are red potatoes, chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese and desserts.     She doesn't look 51 Taneytown Library,10 Grand Drive, Taneytown, will host Barbie's Birthday Bash on Monday at 2:30 p.m. for ages 3 and older.     Apron strings "Aprons: Ties to the Past," is scheduled for Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the North Carroll Library, 2255 Hanover Pike, Greenmount. To mark Women's History Month, hear about the role of aprons from the 1850s to 1960s -- who wore them, their uses, and what they looked like. Bring an apron and a story to share. Call 410-386-4480.
