Allison Bennett, daughter of Elodize and Andrew Bennett of Eldersburg, recently participated in Salisbury University's community service project, "The Big Event." During the project, hundreds of Salisbury students helped university neighbors with household chores.

Bennett, a junior majoring in exercise science, is a 2007 graduate of Liberty High School in Eldersburg. She is also a member of the Salisbury cheerleading team.

At the May commencement at Frostburg State University, in Frostburg, the following local residents were among those receiving degrees:

Brittany Barnes, of Westminster, earned a bachelor's degree in psychology;

Lindsey Curtin, of Marriottsville, earned a bachelor' degree in art and design;

Sean Flynn, of Wesminster, earned a bachelor's degree in social work;

Elisabeth Hildebrand, of Keymar, earned a bachelor's degree in wildlife and fisheries;

Rebecca Kornahrens, of Eldersburg, earned a bachelor's degree in sociology;

Matthew Pratt, of Westminster, earned a bachelor's degree in psychology;

Anna Rombro, of Reisterstown, earned a bachelor's degree in English.

Local residents Ryan O'Flaherty and Michael Finch, both of Mount Airy, were named to the dean's list for the spring semester at the Florida Institute of Technology, in Melbourne, Fla. O'Flaherty is a mechanical engineering major, while Finch is majoring in electrical engineering.

Kelley Borowy of Sykesville, Mark Misulia of Mount Airy and Joseph Slattery of Mount Airy were each named to the dean's list at Providence (R.I.) College, for the spring 2010 semester.

Danielle Crickman, of Marrottsville, graduated summa cum laude with honors in English from Skidmore College, in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., in May.

Crickman earned a bachelor's degree and was also elected to membership in the college's Phi Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the national honor society that recognizes achievement in the liberal arts.

She is the daughter of Grace and Peter Crickman of Marriottsville.

During her Skidmore career, Crickman was a member of Periclean, Skidmore's own academic honor society, and was also a member of Skidmore's Honors Forum.

At the College of Notre Dame of Maryland 2010 senior awards ceremony, Ashton Lee Keefe, of Sykesville, was inducted into Pi Sigma Alpha, the national honor society for political science.

Sarah Kerley, of Woodbine, was recently named to Tarleton State University's list of "Distinguished Students." Kerley is enrolled at the Stephenville, Texas, campus.

Elliott Rosner, of Westminster, and Chelsea Seibel, of Finksburg, both juniors at Gettysburg College, in Pennsylvania, were named to the spring 2010 dean's honor list for outstanding academic achievement.
