Liberty, Westminster students are stars of local service

Two Carroll County students have been recognized as Maryland Student Service Stars for 2010.
Sponsored by the Maryland Department of Education, Service Star recognizes students for contributions to the community through service-learning projects and for devotion and leadership efforts.
Lindsey Scott, a 2010 graduate of Westminster High School, participated in service-learning activities for the benefit of not only the people, but animals as well. Through her work with 4-H, Small Angels Animal Rescue and the Therapeutic Riding Center, she earned 2,145 service learning hours.
Grant Kilduff, a rising junior at Liberty High School, has performed service-learning activities through the Boy Scouts of America. He has helped with Adopt-A-Road cleanups and food collections, and has volunteered at the Appalachian Mission store, which collects donations for those in need. To date, he has 655.25 service hours.
