WESTMINSTER — Credits from two associate degree programs at Carroll Community College are now transferable to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, in Catonsville through a new agreement signed by both colleges.

Carroll's associate program in business administration/management information is now transferable to UMBC's bachelor's program in technical administration. In addition, Carroll's associate program in computer information systems can be transferred to UMBC's bachelor's program in information systems.

UMBC is the second most popular transfer destination among Carroll graduates, according to Carroll Community College officials.

Kate Demarest, chair of the Department of Business and Information Technology at Carroll, said the agreement identifies a path for students who eventually want to transfer to UMBC, so that they know exactly what courses to take.

"Management information systems as a career field is experiencing a resurgence in interest and potential availability of positions in the workplace," said Dr. James Ball, vice president of Academic and Student Affairs at Carroll, in a news release.
