The public is invited to save paper products to deliver to the school, at 60 Monroe St., Westminster, for the drive.
Volunteers will be at the school directing cars. A drop-off service will be provided so people recycling paper won't have to leave their car to participate.
All paper products will be accepted including newspaper, magazines, catalogs, office paper, junk mail and more.
On the day of the drive, participants may bring paper to be recycled in paper grocery bags or cardboard boxes -- no plastic bags.
This service project was organized by sixth grade students Clayton Brenner, Hailey Poisal and Dana Miller, under the guidance of science teacher Ken Mihalyov.
The goal of the drive is to raise awareness about paper recycling, communicate to the public the availability of Abitibi Paper Retriever Recycling containers in the Westminster vicinity which benefit various non-profit organizations and raise money for the West Middle Wind Project.
The school hopes to collect at least 10 tons of paper with the support of the Westminster community.
West Middle School will earn $20 for every ton of paper recycled from the Abitibi Paper Retriever Company, and the money will be put toward the West Middle Wind Project, which is trying to install an electricity generating windmill on the school grounds.
