Their moms and dads might have to wait until next Tuesday, but Linton Springs Elementary School students will cast their votes in a Mock Presidential Election on Oct. 30.

Students in grades kindergarten through five have registered in their precincts (homerooms) and received a voter's card in preparation for the upcoming election.

The registration and election will be conducted by Edie Winegrad's fourth and fifth grade math classes as well as members of the Patriots Club.

In preparation for the elections, students in Winegrad's classes have examined and graphed voter issues, presidential election turn-out since 1960, ages of presidents at their inaugurations and the Electoral College. They have also balanced a campaign expenditure ledger.

The Patriot Club members have created posters and brought information about the candidates to the student body during morning announcements.

Results of the election will be announced on Nov. 1.
