Social media is hot topic for South Carroll luncheon

SYKESVILLE -- The South Carroll Business Association will hold its next luncheon meeting Wednesday, July 21 at noon, at Salerno's, 1043 Liberty Road, Eldersburg. Jon Allen, president of Advantage Internet Marketing, will be the guest speaker and will discuss the benefits of social media, such as Facebook, Twitter and others. Shepherd's Staff collecting for back-to-school drive

WESTMINSTER -- The Shepherd's Staff, a program aiding families in need, is hosting a back-to-school collection. School supplies, backpacks and monetary donations are being accepted through Aug. 31. Donations may be dropped off at Shepherd's Staff, 30 Carroll St., Westminster, Mondays, Tuesday and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; or on Thursdays, 3 to 7 p.m. For a list of supplies needed, call 410-857-5944 or e-mail shepstaff@comcast.net.

Westminster farmers market held each Saturday

WESTMINSTER -- The Downtown Westminster Farmers Market is held every Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon, in the Conaway Parking Lot on Railroad Avenue.
