Several Carroll churches will host Shrove Tuesday pancake suppers on Tuesday, Feb. 16. The following are a few of the scheduled events:

* St. Barnabas Episcopal Church — will host its Shrove Tuesday luncheon and supper at the Parish House, 7609 Main St., Sykesville. Lunch will be served 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and supper will be served 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. The menu includes plain or chocolate chip pancakes, country sausage and applesauce. The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 4 to 12, and free for children 3 and under. For more information, call 410-795-0767.

* Zion United Methodist Church — 2716 Old Washington Road, Westminster, will serve its Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, 4 to 7 p.m., with a menu of pancakes, eggs, sausage, potatoes, sausage gravy and more. * St. Martha's Guild — will host its annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper beginning at 5 p.m. in the Holy Cross Hall at Church of the Ascension, 23 N. Court St., Westminster. Pancakes, Hahn sausage and applesauce. Cost is $5 for ages 12 to adult, $2.50 for children 4 to 11, and free for children under 4. Call 410-848-3251.

Faith Lutheran announces events for Lenten season

The congregation of Faith Lutheran Church, 1700 St. Andrews Way, Eldersburg, has announced its schedule of Lenten/Easter services.

Ash Wednesday service will be held Feb. 17 at 7 p.m.

Advent services are at 7 p.m. Wednesdays, Feb. 24 through March 24, with the theme, "Comparing Days of Creation with Days of Holy Week."

On April 2 there will be a Good Friday service at 7 p.m.

Easter Day services, April 4, will be at 8 and 10:30 a.m., with Sunday School at 9:15 a.m. There will also be a sunrise service (casual) at 6:30 a.m. on the church lawn.

Deer Park hosts Lenten season Bible study series

A free Lenten Bible Study, "Solving Problems with Bible Concepts," will be held at Deer Park United Methodist Church, at the intersection of Deer Park Road and Route 32, Smallwood, on Tuesdays during Lent, beginning Feb. 23 and running through March 30, 6:30 to 8:15 p.m.

Topics include love, forgiveness, decision making, positive and negative thinking, and many others. For details, call the church office at 410-848-2313.
