At the Jan. 23 Klondike Derby, held at Freedom Park, in Sykesville, ,ore than 900 Scouts representing nearly 50 packs and troops took part in the derby, which included some 15 stations and challenges.

Events stressed teamwork, survival skills and knowledge — one involved having teams race their sled down a hill to find a 140-pound dummy on a stretcher. He had to be carried into a first-aid tent.
