Film Lovers in Carroll County (FLICC) is hosting a food drive on Saturday, Nov. 29, to benefit Carroll Food Sunday.

Members of the group will have a pickup truck in the annual Westminster Holiday Parade, which begins at 4 p.m.

FLICC is asking residents to help fill the bed of the truck with non-perishable food items such as fruit, vegetables, beans, rice and canned meats.

The truck will be labeled with a sign that says "Fill Up The Truck For Carroll County Food Sunday."

Operation cookie at St. John School

St. John School in Westminster is hosting Operation Cookie Dough, designed to raise money and ultimately pay to send thousands of locally-made cookies to service men and women in the military.

The school has been taking orders for its Market Day, through which donors could make a pledge for cookies to go toward either the armed forces or health care ministry recipients -- or make a personal order. Personal cookie orders can be picked up on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 3 to 4 p.m. in the Portico at St. John's, on Monroe Street.

Cookies for the armed forces will be bagged and shipped to the troops stationed overseas in time for the Christmas holidays. If you have a loved one or friend in the armed forces and would like them to receive cookies during the holidays. Health Care Ministry will also deliver cookies to recipients before the holidays.

Donations of Ziploc quart-size bags are needed to bag cookies for the Armed Forces. Volunteers are also needed to bake cookies in the Portico, Wednesday, Dec. 10, and Thursday Dec. 11 (dates subject to change).

S&K Roofing collects for Md. Food Bank

S&K Roofing of Eldersburg is collecting non-perishable food items for its fifth annual Holiday Food Drive to benefit the Maryland Food Bank.

Last year the company collected 2,222 pounds of food, and matched each pound with a $1 donation. Since 2003, the company has collected more than two tons of food.

Canned and non-perishable food may be dropped off at the drop box in the company showroom, 5399 Enterprise St., Eldersburg, though Dec. 17. For more details call 410-795-4400 or go to www.SKRoofing.com/FoodDrive.

Library seeks ideas to help home schoolers

Westminster Library, 50 E. Main St., Westminster, will host a session for adult, Brainstorming for Parents of Home Schoolers, on Monday at 7 p.m.

The purpose is to get ideas from parents about what library programs would be helpful for home schoolers. All are invited.
