*"Aging Gracefully," Wednesday, Oct. 22, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Guided by the Rev. Joe Breighner. Cost is $35 and includes lunch. Fr. Joe Breighner is a counselor, weekly radio host on WPOC and writes a column for The Catholic Review.

*"Celtic Harvest," a workshop and concert celebrating Celtic spirituality, Saturday, Oct. 25, 1 to 5 p.m., with a dinner at 6 p.m. and the concert at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $55, and includes dinner and the concert. Presented by Julia Lane and Fred Gosbee as the duo, Castlebay. The two perform with Celtic harp, guitar, fiddle, and woodwinds.

Blessed beasts -- The outdoor Blessing of the Animals service at Springfield Presbyterian Church, 7300 Spout Hill Road, Sykesville, was postponed from last week and will now be held Oct. 26 at 3 p.m. The service will include a time for each pet to be blessed.

A certificate will be issued to each pet owner. Following the service there will be a reception with refreshments. Animals should be leashed or otherwise controlled.

Meditation -- The Carroll County Center for Conscious Living, meeting at Cedarhurst Unitarian Church, 2912 Club House Road, Finksburg, will host "Pranayama, Mantra & Meditation" at 10 a.m. to noon, on Saturday, Oct. 18, at Cedarhurst Unitarian. AWANA Club -- Elders Baptist Church, 1216 Liberty Road, Sykesville, has begun a new year of its AWANA club. The program meets Wednesdays, 6:30 to 8 p.m. The club is open to children from ages 3 (if potty trained) to the fifth grade. Call 410-549-7609 or 410-795-9481.
