More than 100 seniors from Carroll County high schools participated in the ninth annual Job Shadow Day hosted by the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with Carroll County Public Schools.
On Nov. 13, students spent the morning exploring 61 different careers in sessions hosted by 24 businesses. Fields included health care, marketing, human resources, finance, education, information systems, government, law and engineering.
CCPS Career Coordinators matched students with companies based on job descriptions and the student's career interests. After the program, students, mentors, career coordinators and members of the chamber met for lunch at Martin's Westminster, sponsored by Carroll Hospital Center.
The keynote speaker was Brent Whalen of Corridor Mortgage Group Inc., who spoke on interviewing techniques and etiquette.
Albin joins Arc as development director
Lisa Albin has joined the staff of the Arc of Carroll County as director of development. Albin will be responsible for developing membership and programs as well as grant funding.
Albin received a bachelor's and master's in mass communications from Towson State University. She brings experience in both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations to The Arc of Carroll County.
She most recently served as marketing manager for The Carroll County Times, where she worked for 10 years.. Prior to that, she worked as public information officer for The Maryland Emergency Management Agency and news director for WTTR radio.

Free economic issues event in Westminster
Steven Aquino and Charles Wolpoff of the Aquino & Wolpoff Financial Group, 62 W. Main St., Westminster, will host a seminar, "How Do the Current Economic Issues Impact You and Your Family?" on Thursday, Nov. 20, 6 p.m. at Rafael's, 34 W. Main St., Westminster.
The guest speaker will be Nasser Ali a certified financial planner from Lincoln Financial Advisors

Camlin goes 'green' for LEEDS certification
The architecture firm of Dean Robert Camlin & Associates of Westminster has announced that its president, Dean R. Camlin, has passed the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Professional Accreditation Exam.
The examination tests aspects of green design and construction, with certification granted by the US Green Building Council.
